I’ll be the first to admit that I have a good time poking fun at my husband on the Clueless Newlywed Blog. Though all of the so-called newlywed adventures are true…The tone I set here probably makes my husband out to be a lot worse than he really is. So, I’ve decided to dedicate this post to all the small things…That is…All the small things my husband does that actually makes me happy. =)
Numero Uno: He still surprises me.
Take, for example, last week…I was having a pretty bad week. Work and personal issues were bugging me big time, and I was just plain in a bad mood. My husband stopped by my office during lunch with a pretty bouquet of flowers. (Granted, he said he partly got them because he had gotten sushi without inviting me, and he felt guilty about it later, but I was willing to overlook that.)
Numero Dos: He listens when I speak.
When I come home from work, a happy hour, an exercise class, a meeting, whatever, my husband’s always there, lending an ear. He’ll listen to all of the latest gossip that I have with co-workers and friends…Who’s pregnant, who’s fighting with who, who’s on a diet, who’s screwing up…He’ll listen to all of it. (Or, at least, I think he’s listening…He’s just sits quietly and nods his head whenever I start rattling off the latest scandals and rumors.)
Numero Tres: He puts me first.
It never fails. I want to go out on a romantic date, and he wants to stay in and play video games. Five times out of ten, he’ll cave in, and we’ll spend a “romantic” night in. It starts with him running out to the corner store to get us a bottle of wine, and it ends with my husband letting me choose which video game we can play together.
Cuatro: He helps around the house.
Yeah, yeah…I know I just did a post about my husband’s unique way of doing chores, but he really does help around the house. For example, he’s always willing to help me fold the laundry. (Although, he does have a no sock, no underwear, and no bra-folding rule.)
Numero Cinco: He lets me have my own space.
Ya know how there are some days when a gal just needs to be by herself and relax? My husband is so good at giving me those “days to myself.” I cannot tell you how many times we finish up dinner and then he goes to his back office to work on music production (Right now, he’s recording local Cleveland hip hop artists,) for the rest of the night, only to emerge 10 minutes before it’s time for bed.
So you see…My husband really isn’t as bad as I make him out to be on the Clueless Newlywed Blog. Some might even say that he’s a regular prince.
