It’s been just over three months since my wedding. I’ve had so many ups and downs before during and after, and it seems as though my new married life is finally starting to settle down.
My husband and I decided to take advantage of a family connection to wait to go on our honeymoon until August. (We were married on December 30.) We kept our fingers crossed, knowing that everything had to fall into place in order for us to go to Hawaii. The timing of the honeymoon had to be right (after all of the major Jewish holidays), the timeshare had to be available, and we needed to be able to take off of work for a week. It was going to be perfect. (I even kicked up my workout routine a notch so I could make sure to be “bikini” ready.)
Alas, last night we found out that nothing was falling into place. We got the phone call from my husband’s soon-to-be father-in-law (Yes, my husband’s mother is engaged), and he told us that Hawaii was out, and they were going to try and get another place. My heart sank.
I don’t want to be one of those wedding couples who never goes on a honeymoon. I keep telling my husband that we need to have a little getaway just the two of us, but I don’t know where to go…Suggestions??
