The Spousal We

A friend of mine sent me an email last week with the Urban Word of the Day: The Spousal We.
Used by your significant other to get you to do something.
The Spousal We: “We should clean the bathroom today”, or “we should get Johnny to practice his viola more”.
For some reason, she said that this word reminded her of my husband and me.
I’m not sure why…It’s not like I ever say the following to my husband:
We need to clean out the car.
We need to take the dogs to the vet.
We need to do the dishes.
We need to do the laundry.
No way, not me…I would never use the spousal we…
